Our Deacons

Walter and Melody Channell, Deacons of Youth Ministry

channells1

Walter and Melody oversee the teen and preteen ministry.  They work together with our youth ministers to ensure vital communication between parents and youth workers.  The Channells were both baptized on August 2, 1986, and have been married for 24 years.  God has blessed them with three incredible children: Whitney (20), Wesley (18), and Christina (16).  They live in Silverdale on the Kitsap Peninsula, and their family loves the Northwest, having especially fallen in love with snowboarding.  Their example in the church, their commitment to the families, and their gratefulness for everything God has done in their lives make them servants worthy of imitation.

Daryl and Ruby Wallace, Deacons of Transitions

wallaces

Daryl and Ruby oversee transition to and from the ministry.  They try to meet with those moving into the SSCOC and those moving out, making sure that the transitions goes as smooth as possible.  The Wallaces have been married for 26 years, and their two kids, Marcus and Stephanie, are both faithful Christians and servants of the church.  They also live in Silverdale, but can be seen serving or worshipping in every area of our ministry, no matter the distance!  Their hearts for people and their tireless efforts to build the church have been an incredible inspiration for those of us in the South Sound for years.

Gary and Yvonne Burch, Deacons of Small Group Leaders

burches

Gary and Yvonne oversee the needs and shepherding of our small group leaders.  Often, leaders need fellowship, accountability, and idea-sharing with one another.  The Burches oversee a structure that enables us to have rich discipling relationships with one another as we work together to build the church!  They have been married for 10 years and have two beautiful girls, Olivia and Bella.  They have served in every section of the church, and are committed to building up the congregation with their lives and example.  They enjoy life in every way, are grateful for what God has done in their lives, and it shows.
