Daren & Karla Overstreet

Lead Evangelist/Women’s Ministry Leader

Daren feels extremely blessed to serve the congregation of the South Sound Church of Christ!  Having grown up with parents who instilled godly principles and values in their family, he is grateful to have been given a foundation for his life based on God’s word.  After graduating from high school and attending the University of Washington, it became clear that something was missing in his spiritual life.  The knowledge of God was there, as well as the duties.  However, a rich, powerful, personal relationship with God was not.  After studying God’s word from a fresh perspective, he decided to become a disciple and fully surrender his life to God.  In 1993, along with his wife, he was baptized into Christ.  In 1996 they entered the ministry and have never looked back!

Daren holds a BA in Architecture from the University of Washington, and has completed graduate work at Harding Graduate School of Religion.  He enjoys preaching, studying the Bible with seekers, raising up leaders in the church, going for long prayer walks, and occasionally torturing himself on the golf course.

Karla has been leading the women in the South Sound Church of Christ for 12 years.  She finds tremendous satisfaction in training and counseling women.  She followed a similar spiritual path as Daren, growing up with strong convictions about God, but feeling like a personal relationship with him and a clear purpose were missing.  She was baptized by in 1994, and is immensely grateful for all God has done in her life, her family, and in the church!

Karla holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington, and has plans to return someday for a Master’s in Counseling.  In the meantime, she enjoys teaching, facilitating women’s discussion groups, overseeing the church kids program, spending time with her family, and trying to sneak out with her husband to their favorite sushi restaurant!
