Adoption Assistance Fund
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:27
God has a special place in His heart for orphans. They are not the given a choice of how to start their life, but find themselves in this world without the most essential foundation upon which to build a successful life: a loving family. At the Seattle Church of Christ, we believe that to be a disciple of Jesus is to care for orphans in their distress. We also believe that God has called loving, spiritual families to answer their call for help. Perhaps there is a special place for an orphan in your family!
Since the start of this program in 2001, we have been able, through the donations of church members, to assist several families in adopting a child. Our prayer is that as a church, we will continue to put our faith into action, together responding to the needs of orphans.
Program Objective
The objective of the SCC Adoption Fund is to financially assist qualified families in their adoption process. In most cases, the cost of adopting a child has become burdensome. There are home studies, paperwork, agency fees, and travel costs. Our desire is to minimize this financial impact on families. Donations are freely given by members of the SCC, usually once per year.
Who is eligible?
The program is open to members of the Seattle Church of Christ. Applicants must have successfully completed their initial home study, and be approved for adoption by a qualified adoption agency.
How do I apply?
You can apply by sending a completed application along with your adoption agency approval letter. You can obtain an application for the SCC adoption assistance fund by contacting Daren and Karla Overstreet at (253) 565-5593, or darenoverstreet@hotmail.com .
