The Time For Faith!

As we pass from one year to the next, we are faced with new challenges and new opportunities. As disciples of Christ (the ultimate dreamer), we not only set goals for our family or career, but we dare to dream about the many ways we can make a spiritual impact on the world we live in, and strive to make progress as we live out our mission. In fact, without a foundation of faith that comes fromtrong relationship with God, our goals may be part of an objective, but are uninspiring and leave us empty. On Sunday, Scott Green challenged us to do one simple thing: grow in our belief in the power of God. There were three “faith tools” we all need to remember in 2005 and beyond:

  1. Let us all do our part to save souls and build up the church. We CAN’T do God’s work, but he has given all of us the ability to make every effort.
  2. Grasp the idea that maturity implies responsibility. Let’s not simply talk about being a mature fellowship – let’s live it out in everything we do.
  3. Live for impossible dreams! Think not about the limits – what I have to do – think about what can be done if we give ourselves fully to God!

I want to encourage all of us in this wonderful region of the church to commit the following goals to prayer and effort:

Congregational Goals for 2005:

Our Mission
  1. To ask the Lord to help every Bible Talk group help someone come to Christ.
  2. To ask the Lord to bring 100 lost souls to salvation this year.
  3. For each of us to know our mission fields, and sow them – do our part.
  4. For the families ministry to set an evangelistic example.
  5. To ask the Lord for to identify two couples to be trained for two new church plantings.
Our Maturity
  1. For the sake of empowerment and fluid communication, establish committees devoted to:
    1. Future Building projects
    2. Local HOPE projects to help the poor
    3. Financial oversight
    4. Stirring worship services
  2. Unleash the power of TNT (Teaching and Training)
    1. February 6 is the start of our new Sunday classes
    2. Ongoing modules on parenting
    3. Invite three outside speakers to help instruct and encourage our church
  3. Acknowledge and “respect those who work hard among you” (1 Thess. 5:12).
    1. Lift up examples of service in the church
    2. Build an exemplary and accessible leadership – they are servants
  4. Establish a “one another way” fellowship culture, full of encouragement, challenge, and appropriately mature mentoring and discipling.
Tacoma Goals
  1. To ask the Lord to help us bring 30 lost souls to Christ this year.
  2. To grow in the Spirit. I heard one thing in 2004: “I want to grow to be more like Christ.”
    1. Encourage everyone to have a prayer partner
    2. Each member of our fellowship is committed to spiritual progress
  3. Grow in knowledge
    1. Start a spiritual, dynamic Training curriculum for members
    2. Appoint a deacon, in charge of spiritual formation & curriculum
  4. Tacoma Mission Planting!
    1. Establish our own budget by Jan. 1, 2006
    2. Start a building fund – move into a building by 2010!
  5. Greater maturity in our families
    1. More teaching on parenting
    2. “Boundaries” class modules throughout the year

These are just plans. If we follow God’s guidance, stay committed to His word and prayer, and make every effort to build up His church, 2005 will be a smashing success. Please commit these things to your heart, and pray that God will fill all of us up with faith…this truly is The Time For Faith!
